Summer Wedding at Carlowrie Castle

Jess & Ross’ romantic summer wedding at Carlowrie Castle

If you’re dreaming of an elegant outdoor wedding in Scotland with a fairytale backdrop and a whole lot of floral magic, Jess and Ross’ day at Carlowrie Castle is going to steal your heart. Set just outside Edinburgh, this Carlowrie Castle wedding was the perfect mix of relaxed luxury, Scottish tradition and summer romance. I was joined by the lovely Adam from Pittstop Films who created a beautiful video of their day.

A calm morning in the castle

Jess and Ross spent the morning getting ready in the castle itself— Jess wore a stunning Suzanne Neville gown from Eleganza, with a timeless silhouette and modern edge. Her look was finished with soft glam from Stacey Toner Artsy and beautiful styling by Sian Bannan Hair. Her Jimmy Choos were the perfect final touch. I captured all of the beautiful sentimental details in a flatlay, including the stunning gold fouled invitations by Wedding Artwork, and their rings by Tom Wylie Jewellery.

Ross and the boys wore kilts from MacGregor and MacDuff, embracing the full Scottish style. The bridal party looked incredible too—bridesmaids in dusty tones by Rewritten, all adding to the romantic palette of the day.

An outdoor ceremony filled with flowers

The ceremony took place outside on the castle grounds—sunshine, roses, and a whole lot of joy. Fiori created the most beautiful floral set-up: roses with their stems sunken into the lawn, creating the illusion they were growing from the grass, and a soft meadow of flowers that surrounded the couple as they exchanged vows.

They included a traditional Scottish handfasting in their ceremony, which added so much meaning and depth. It was a beautiful moment—personal and rooted in tradition.

Champagne, portraits and castle vibes

After the ceremony, guests spilled out into the sunshine for a relaxed drinks reception. Everyone soaked up the atmosphere while we captured some natural, joy-filled portraits with their families and wedding party in front of the castle. Carlowrie Castle has such a cinematic presence—and filled with beautiful backdrops for photos.

Flowers, speeches and dancing under the stars

Dinner and speeches were held in the marquee, styled to perfection by Maria Elizabeth Designs. It was filled with flowers by Fiori, and centred around a statement gold mirrored dancefloor that caught the light beautifully. Jess and Ross had their cake by Liggy’s—a modern tiered design that matched the elegance of the day—and then the party kicked off in full swing.

The Soul Establishment brought the energy, and this crowd knew how to party. Just as the sun began to dip, we snuck out for some golden hour portraits. The sky delivered the goods—dramatic, glowing, and the perfect end to the most incredible day.
